Just by memory and in passing I can think of a couple of quotes saying that - 'Every country will drink of their(the great prostitute) luxuries' and eventually that country will be destroyed and 'ships will pass-by and the people will say that no one lives there anymore' .

Along those lines, read the prophecies that say "Babylon, Babylon is fallen, is fallen". I think that almost exact same quote is in the Bible about 3-4 times.
Right after 9/11, I read that quote and got chills thinking about how it sounded like the twin towers because of the way it was repeated twice. New York specifically sounds like at least one fulfillment of "Babylon" with its "World Trade Center" as well as UN headquarters, and the rest of the description as you described above.
I can't help thinking about an old quote from Billy Graham--it was something to the effect of, "If God doesn't judge the US, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah."
I would add to your list of atrocities of our American mindset and lifestyles as you mentioned above the destruction of the family, blurred gender roles, homosexuality, adultery, perversion, abuse, abortion, crime, violence, blasphemy against God, etc., etc. as things we as a culture and a nation will be held accountable for somehow some way.

Honey I don't see where it uses the expression great Satan but I can see where we could be Babylon the Great. We fit many of the prophecies of not only Revelation but many of the Old Testiment prophets such as Isaiah about the nature and influence of Babylon and Iraq which is where ancient Babylon was does not fit the bill and seriously who would mourn the loss of Iraq except maybe a few Dems and the Iraqis.
Usually in the bible when it talks about a woman, prostitute, etc it is refering to a religion therefore we are not the prostitute. However just look around and see which church or religion is trying to force its will on others and you might have a clue as to who the prostitue is.

Earnest, we have a problem of being much too materialistic, yes. As we see here on this board and in our real lives daily, this country is in big trouble in its efforts to turn away from God. Technology has widen the chasm of temptation and caused many to turn away from God. Addictive personalities are easily seduced before the knowledge of a loss of control has even made it into awareness.
Yes, I look around and it is so easy to get scared about the soul of America.
However, we need to be constantly aware of the fact that we in this country are free to seek out and follow the true God. Despite the naysayers who try so hard to confuse us otherwise, we know what this country was founded upon. We know that the nation has always been blessed with the spirit and bounty of God. Our forefathers blessed this country through their prayers and we are the recipients of those prayers even today, if we open our hearts to them.
Likewise, all we can do is to continue what our forefathers began - pray for the nation, pray for our leadership, pray for the bounty to be ever existent and act with integrity regardless of how many would rob us of all.

What I really love is how hateful people are towards others beliefs these days. I have to give you credit for still posting this long when every evolutionist, humanist, or atheist will respond with obvious bile.
I've actually thought a question though I've rarely asked it. What if our terrorist "buddies" were actually on to something with the US being the seat of evil in the world today. Don't get me wrong, I don't condone terrorism. But I can see how a strong spiritual power would look on our country with a bit of distaste. Plenty of Americans do.
The thing with Revalation is that it is almost intentionally ambiguous. And I am not insinuating that you are wrong for reading it or even believing in it. However, I honestly don't think that there is anyone who can figure out what the book is saying beyond the obvious "Watch out! Something's coming to get you! In a good way or a bad way its up to you."
For all I know, the "country" is Earth and the colonies left after we've destroyed the planet will pass by in ships and mourn a dead world.
