Why is my husband objects myspace???????

im 26 and hes 40...he thinks having myspace , friendster, facebook etc. is pointless and stupid.. im not even cheating and befriending other men, my friends on those profiles are mostly celebrities and my favorite singers... what is wrong with him? i know people much older than us that still has profiles on those websites, sometimes couples has it!!! why is he against this thing? is he too old for this?

He has reasons to think that such things may not be good for a settled woman. There are millions of instances where the information given in scrapbooks on such websites were misused by others and innocent people getting into trouble. There have been cheating, defamation, kidnappings and even murders. Why one needs all such personal and private information spread out to public. Understand him, you married him knowing he is older by 14 years than you and there could be differences of opinions. You cannot disown him now for his age or his intolerance for certain things. Will it be okay for you if he agrees you to myspace and then he goes and finds some similar activity to spend his time or information about your life? Honey, freedom and space are important in married life, but more important is a caringa nd loving partner. Care is not always without control. He is thinking for both of you and most often he might have told you not to myspace because he is concerned about your safety. Dont think he is jealous of you meeting young people or you developing some fancy for someone young. He is old enough to understand how long such flames will last with young people and how soon they would go after another younger woman. These youngsters only talk behind the walls of the web, right, he is the man in front of you. And dont take anyone's stupid suggestion that he may be jealous! So, instead of fighting over this with him and feeling upset with him about this, try to see things from his point and know that he may be concerned about you.

because the majority of people on myspace are on there to hook up and meet with other people, hes old so he doesnt understand that not everybody is on there for that reason. hes probably a little insecure about it cuz ur much younger than him and can easily find somebody younger on a site for mainly young people.

most mature people dont need that kind of crap. i never had a myspace, facebook page or whatever there is. to be honest, i wouldnt even date a man who has a page like that, i dislike when people need to expose themselves everywhere. but thats just me.

my boyfriend did the same thing. Hes completely computer illiterate n went on about how myspace is just to pick up n chat up ppl...that was news to me, so i finally got rid of it after agruing about it for 3 weeks.And do you know what? We've since bought our own computer and hes learning how to use it and what its all about. Now HE wants a myspace because he realises i wasn't lying when i explained what it was. After making my life a living hell for absolutely no reason like i knew the whole time.......Yeah right. Not a chance in hell!

I think it may be a guy thing. My boyfriend isn't into it either. He says it's stupid to put your information out there like that. If you look and see how many married men his age have it, you won't find as many as single men with it. I don't think myspace is bad though, I still have one. Most my friends are people I know or Music I like.... I guess just let him do his thing and don't look into it. I'm sure that some things he enjoys are stupid to you...

I do not like Myspace, because once I tried it, I had all of these people I did not know pop up and become my instant friends, and then I got email from them, and my husband was wondering why I was getting all this stuff and all this mail from strange people I did not know.

JMO and only JMO, but I always tell my friends, to email me, and if they want to see a pitchure of me, I will do it the safe way, by snail mail, if I sent one over the internet to one of my friends, how will I know that my friend will be the only one getting the pitchure???

I have lots of friends on MySpace and it is fine for them, but you really have to watch it, it is fine for them, but not for me, I like the old fashioned way!!!!!

Well, your husband is in age groupe where he doubts his wife. It is natural that old husband are very much mentally involved in their age difference and they think that wife of your age might be involved in friendship with othe guys of your age groups. As he is your husband , he should rely on you and he should think that you are just having your space with celebrities and singers and you have no such concern with friendships. He is at fault if he is doing this.

u have to understand ur husband..of course he is insecure...why insecure? because of ur age gap...he is afraid that u can find someone who is better than him or younger than him...look his 40 years old and mostly men at this age has more insecurities specially if they are married to a young woman....so u have to understand him..if u really like this things, make him understand and give him 100% of security that u will be with him forever..sometimes simple words can make us happy...like dont worry i am all urs,,,,i love u, u r perfect for me....

i think you both are too old for this. my husband and i have laughed and laughed at others that are married, and have these pages. there is usually a fight to go along with them. i think they are for young people...still in high school, not for married couples

well, my husband and I don't use myspace or facebook or any of that other stuff... the kids are not allowed to use it either (oldest is 14)... basically, all of these things are time wasters, something else to check online, is email not enough for you or other people to keep in contact w/ people? perhaps you are not cheating, but, having celebrities on your friend lists makes him think he is not enough for you... and perhaps it hurts him that you have these "little crushes" on them... I got rid of my space page shortly after I met my husband... it's not that he's too old, his standards are obviously good... and you should stop using these pages if it bothers him... don't disrespect his feelings of hurt... they are more important than the giddy feeling you get when some famous person adds you as a friend... or messages you... find something else to do that does not hurt him or your relationship... I agree w/ poodle mom... and I also want to add that people should be outside talking to neighbors and having coffee w/ them instead of being online trying to meet "friends"

That is the price you pay, when marrying an older person. They are set in their ways. I have a 45 year old ex boyfriend on my space, the personals, all the chat sites and I think it is crazy. I am 41 and believe my space is for young people as yourself and my daughter. So I can see where he is coming from. If you show him what my space is all about, then maybe he will accept it. When my daughter found out that the ex had a page, she laughed, because she thought he was too old. So, he's not too old, he's moved on to something else in life. But if you all are going to be married, then the both need to respect each others ways. Maybe you should look at your my space account when he is not around. Talking to him after showing him what my space is all about should put him at ease. If it doesn't, then you need to figure out what's more important to you... My space or your husband.
